Meet Lana
Welcome to Girl, Teach Me! I am so grateful that you are here. Before I tell you what “Girl, Teach Me” means or what you can expect to find here, I want to share a bit of my story with you.
I spent most of my young life on a softball field. I was a pitcher and loved the pressure of knowing that the game started with the ball in my hand. Softball carried me from Georgia to South Carolina as a softball player at Furman University. It was at college where I was mentored for the first time in my life. Through those years I slowly learned how to read my Bible for myself and even slowly understand it. My relationship with Jesus just exploded as I became passionate about mentorship and Biblical literacy (knowing how to read and understand your Bible).
Softball took me to my next adventure in life, working as a graduate assistant for the University of Tennessee softball team. While at UT, Matt and I became friends, fell in love and got married two years later. Shortly after graduation, we packed our bags for Los Angeles.
We thought we were moving there for Matt’s education and my coaching job, but looking back we see that God was moving us there for so much more. The real gift of our time was relationships and ministry training. I loved my time with my players and students, but I realized that after having my first child God was calling me home to care for him full-time.
Fast forward and now I am home with my 4 small children. I am extremely passionate about taking care of all that God has given me whether it’s my kids, our health, our finances, our home or just the sacred relationships that help add richness to life.
I love natural remedies, making REAL food, hosting big parties, a good read aloud with my kids or sitting down with younger women and hearing their heart for what God is stirring in them or calling them to.
I am a huge fan of mentorship. My life has surely been changed by the women God brought at the right time and season for me. I believe that getting a wiser woman on board is literally life-changing!
If having a mentor sounds your next step to help you grow, I have great news! I have put together a FREE How to Find a Mentor Guide. This guide walks you through the steps of how to find an amazing woman in your local area to help you learn, grow and flourish in your callings. What is Girl, Teach Me?
I am so grateful you are here!
Girl, Teach Me, is a space where I eagerly on all things womanhood. I also share videos and posts on how to grow in your walk with Jesus, because He is the WHY and the fuel for everything I do.
In 2019 I launched Girl, Teach Me with the goal of seeing more and more women flourish in their calling to be a woman after God’s own heart. Now Girl, Teach Me is a blog and YouTube channel providing education and encouragement for women at home.

What Inspired the Idea for “Girl, Teach Me?”
First things first, I absolutely LOVE teaching and sharing what I have learned along the way. I have always been that way, ever since I started giving softball pitching lessons at age 13. The thrill of helping someone along the journey has never become old. Once I gave up coaching college softball, I never dreamed that God would birth a new expression for my desire to teach and coach. But God has!
“Girl, Teach Me” is what God birthed in my heart when softball came to an end for me. I realized that I loved softball, because I so enjoyed the relationships that grew out being in a community of women. This is only natural, since God has made women such relational creatures.
I also saw the gap that many women feel between their upbringing and their life at home raising and maybe even educating their kids. I began to notice an even greater gap for women who were thirsty to live out God’s Word in their lives, but realistically struggled to understand how to open up their Bibles and dig in for themselves.
So my goal with “Girl, Teach Me” is to help bridge these gaps for you as a woman. I am constantly learning, messing up, asking for forgiveness and trying again, but I really believe if you take a look around here that you will find a nugget to help you flourish more fully as a woman.
If you walk away from this space feeling more empowered on how to be an intentional momma, how to create a nourishing meal for your family or how to open up the Bible and read it for yourself then I will have met my goal.
So as long as the internet is around, I hope to be here encouraging you! But as we know, certain social media outlets can disappear in a day, so the only way to be sure you will never miss out is to join my email list. (I will also send you a copy of my Laundry Guide: Learning to Love Laundry ebook + A Man’s Guide to Laundry added for FREE!)

Life at Home
Matt and I are living in NC with our 4 kids, two boys and two girls. I spend my days homeschooling, cooking with the kids and cleaning up lots of messes. It is a busy, tiring and full life, but I would not have it any other way.
What the Name “Girl, Teach Me” Mean?
There is so much to learn as a woman. And the best of what I have learned from other women mentors has been, because I led into a conversation with, “Girl, teach me how you have learned to ______.” You fill in the blank…the questions and the wisdom we can glean from older wiser women is endless.
It could be, “Girl, teach me how you have created a home where you don’t yell at your kids all the time.” “Girl, teach me how you have learned to honor and respect your husband with your words.” “Girl, teach me how you make those amazing cinnamon rolls everyone raves about.” The list goes on and on doesn’t it? There is never a complete list of all the things us women do. It is experience, Biblical wisdom and a whole lot of Jesus that guides the way for us women today.
God has amazing things in store for us women, but there is something extra special that takes place when we humble ourselves and ask another woman to teach us. This natural discipling has been life changing for me! I want the same for you too! Maybe this will be your nudge to reach out to a wiser woman in your local area and say, “Girl, teach me how you…”
And while I love sitting down with women in my local area, more than likely you and me probably can’t share a cup of coffee today (French press is my favorite). But good news, I still want to know you and be a resource for you. If you would love to hear about all the ways you can get plugged into Girl, Teach Me drop your info below.

A few fun facts about me:
I have traveled three summers in a row to play softball China and loved it!
Despite being a decent athlete, I lost every single tennis match I played in high school (except the one where the other player didn’t show up hahahaha)
I held the softball strikeout record for awhile at my college Alma Mater, but now days I slay goals to get the same strikeout high.
I absolutely LOVE taking a bath with some salts, a good podcast and a cup of hot chamomile tea after the kids have gone to bed.
I had all of my babies out of a hospital (haha yes on purpose!) and believe it or not it was some of the sweetest moments with the Lord I have had.
I constantly feel like I have a million stickie notes on my head and if we chat over coffee I will probably tell you all that I just learned in a book, podcast or from a friend.
I am an 8 on the Enneagram and I am asking Jesus to help me learn the ways of a Gentle-8.
Follow along to learn how you can start flourishing at home! I share new videos every single week documenting our debt-free life with 4 small kids and offering tips, recipes and inspiration to help you do the same, right here on the blog and YouTube Channel.
