Ideas for Intentionality 24/52: Wheat berries, Laundry Hacks, and Clean Floors

by Lana Sullivan

Happy Friday!

One of the amazing things about volunteering as a door holder at the Wild + Free Conference last year was getting to meet other homeschool mamas.

This week’s I of I comes from Whitney from @gracelikeamother a homeschooling mama of 3 who has been helping me behind the scenes here at Girl, Teach Me.

I thought it would be fun for her to share some of her favorites that can help you show up more intentionally for your family since I know her to be an extremely encouraging and intentional woman:

Ideas for Intentionality

Hello Wheat Berries: One of my favorite home swaps is this beauty. I have been baking with fresh milled flour for almost three years. Did you know when we buy store-bought flour we only get 1 of the 3 parts of a grain in most gluten products in our country? That means we aren’t getting all the amazing nutrients compared to using the WHOLE grain. My favorite grains to use are spelt and kamut.

No More Mess: When the floors get messy, my kids pick this thing up and start mopping my floors without me even asking, and when I do ask for the floors to be cleaned, they practically wrestle over who will get the job done. You can add a nontoxic cleaner, either Branch Basics (better for cleaning) or Force of Nature (better for disinfecting) to the spray mop too.

Fold laundry, NO THANKS: In our house of five, laundry is one thing we are not short on and it is such a pain point. So, away with the folding. Clothes get sorted by who they belong to and by item type, and then they’re thrown into these bins under their bed, these baskets in their closet, or into their dresser drawers. Sometimes we have to work smarter, not harder. Am I right?

Just Ingredient Family Favs: Lana had mentioned her love for Just Ingredients so I finally took the plunge and gave it a try. We are sold! (haha) My kiddos are HUGE fans of this, it makes for a perfect breakfast on the go or add this to a smoothie to cool down after a long day in the sun. My husband has been loving this before his workouts. I’m having a hard time picking just one because I really enjoy the protein but I also have noticed a huge difference in my face since starting to use this and this almost six months ago.

Sending love,

Whitney and Lana

Father’s Day P.S. Need a last-minute gift? How about BACON for Life? Our family has this deal, and we get 2 free packs of bacon in every box 2X a month.

P.S. Tired of feeling helpless as a mama, angry at your kids, or frustrated at your husband? Oh, do I have a video for you! Check out this week’s New YouTube Video 🙌

Pregnant P.S. Research has shown that if you watch a video of what is about to happen in knee surgery days before surgery, the pain after surgery is reduced and recovery is quicker. That is because you are telling your brain that the pain of surgery has a purpose and that your body is safe. Fascinating! The same is true for birth. Come and see, and I will teach you how to rewire your brain to feel safer in birth. This is one KEY to feeling less pain and to speed birth up 👏👏👏👏

Happy Friday, I have noticed mixed thoughts on summer in the mama world! And maybe you can relate… A break from the normal, a time to recharge, sunshine and water time – this is how we sometimes think of summer. But for others it can be stressful because kids are out of school and they…
