Ideas for Intentionality 27/52: ❣️Marriage Requires Intention, Your Homeschool Roadmap, and Finding Freedom from the Phone Vortex
Happy Friday,
Crazy Storytime, the kind of stuff you just can’t make up!
It was my husband and I’s 14th anniversary this week and he had the day off. We were dreaming about what to do and he offered to send me away to our favorite local retreat center.
That sounded so fun, but not as fun without him. I got busy messaging some amazing gals I know from church and somehow we patched together 3 sitters so we could get away for the night with just the baby. We were so pumped, but this is when the crazy part happens.
We get to the retreat center, get checked into our little hermitage, walk to dinner on site and guess who we see?
Our married mentors from college that we haven’t seen in YEARS! They walked with us through singleness, dating, engagement, and were there on our wedding day. They were 5 hrs from their house on a retreat for Athletes and Action. Concoinscence, no way!
This is when I know God loves seeing his children be surprised and delighted, like we do as parents.
We had dinner and breakfast with our mentors, prayed, talked about life-big decisions and heartaches we are walking through. It refreshed my soul in ways I didn’t know I needed.
I am more convinced than ever that we can have a lot of things in life and give out to our children, but the number one thing we should do as married women is nurture, pour into and work at our marriage.
It is a choice everyday to make this our one great love on earth and not take it lightly that God gave us a man to love.
Matt said we are now “working” on our 15th year of marriage and I can’t agree more, it takes a lot of work and intention.
Speaking of intention here are my ideas for intentionality this week:
IDEAS FOR INTENTIONALITY:
Podcast I am Enjoying: I like to listen to podcasts more than once. I am picking up some good nuggets in this one. There is a lot of grace and hope for young moms in it!
I Have Been Doing So Much Cleaning and Organizational Research:
*having to level up in this department with 6 kids
Dusting High Lights and Rafters: Ok there has been a huge pile of dust way up high in my front room on a rafter plus lots of cobwebs on the stairs light. Then I found this handy tool!
Cleaning Cast Iron Pans: I am obsessed with my cast iron pans. No need to follow the trends of all the “clean” pans and then have to replace them in years once they scratch. But you do have to know how to clean them, I like these scrubbers for them.
Kids Cleaning Tool: My kids are really loving this small hand vac. It is totally a game to them!
Thinking About Homeschool?
Take a look at this blog post where I share what I wish I knew getting started
Curriculum for Pre-K and Kindergarten that I think provides instruction for a beautiful atmosphere with homeschooling. I use the Humble Heart printing service she suggested too and printed my materials.
* Use PEACEFULYEAR for 10% off your order!
Restoration Home Group is Open: This group is a WEALTH of wisdom! So many mom mentors with monthly calls and a huge archive you can search for any kind of mama issue. I have learned a lot and I am a yearly member.
Summer Favorites ☀️🌊
Battling Dehydration this Summer: I can’t say enough about getting electrolytes on board! You just need the powder, a shaker ball you can throw in any water bottle or mason jar and add mineral drops – sooo good for cellular hydration!
Clean Sunscreen Spray: Controversial but I am not crazy about sunscreen. I give my kids smaller doses of sun and build up their sun callus, they hardly ever burn and we NEED the sun for metabolic health. BUT for longer sun exposure, I like this spray sunscreen my friend TeriLyn turned me on to and I love this one for their faces.
Fun Sunhat: Ok it is a little floppy at first, but I am liking it for morning walks.

If you are sick of being phone addicted like I was… –I get that yucky feeling of being sucked in by the phone, resurfacing from that vortex and realizing I wasted so much time. But how do we break free? Here is my story and cheers to less scrolling and more living
