Ideas for Intentionality 14/52: Stomach Bug, Make it FUN, and Football Cramps

Ideas for Intentionality 14/52: Stomach Bug, Make it FUN, and Football Cramps

Happy Friday,

What if we do not have the bandwidth to be intentional?

What if we are simply in survival mode?

These simple phrases have been a go-to for me in those moments, because oh boy do I have them! “Do the next right thing…do a doable portion.”

Between replacing our van, because of the transmission (praises we got a new-to-us van with the cash we had)!

Then this crazy story…only made it halfway on our 8-hour Easter trip to see family. We stopped at our friend’s house…within 10 minutes of being there, my kids started in with the stomach bug, gave our friends the stomach bug (on one of their birthdays nonetheless), and then we punted on the trip altogether and just came back home… You can’t make this stuff up!

Doing the NEXT RIGHT THING has been the anthem in my head in moments like these.

Praying this simple phrase will be an encouragement to you.

Here are some Ideas for Intentionality to just help you survive and get back on your feet if you find yourself in a survival season:

Ideas for Intentionality

Side-by-Side: This book has helped me learn to be OK with being “Needy and Needed,” learning to ask for help and how to be available to help others.

Her #1 Pick: When Karalynne from Just Ingredients was asked, “If you could only pick one product to improve your health from all of your products, what would it be?” She said this product because it contains pre-, pro-, and post-biotics.

Bath Salts: My mother-in-law had these salts at her house and ahh they are so nice in a warm bath. Magnesium is absorbed well through the skin. And when I was pregnant, salt baths helped my middle-of-the-night leg cramps. Ever had those? Whew, they would throw me out of bed in a second like a football player locked up with cramps.

Make it Fun: One thing I have been learning from this book, is the idea that if you have to do something you really don’t want to do, find a way to make it fun. 6 known Nobel Peace Prize Winners attribute their success to keeping their work fun. My spin on it: Dishes to wash? Add a candle, a podcast (this one has given me a boost lately), and a nice drying towel.

Asking for Help: If you are in a season where you need some help, here is a video. I think humbling ourselves and asking for help can be a courageous thing to do. Then others will feel they can come to us when their low moments come.

We are all needy and needed.

Black Lemonade: I know this might sound crazy, but somehow I was the only one in my family of 7 that didn’t get the stomach bug. I 100% think the Lord spared me to be able to care for everyone, but I was also pounding this. I have heard it is an excellent binder and shortens the stomach bug significantly. I had my kids mix the activated charcoal with this to help it taste like lemonade.

I will always travel with this stuff now.

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. I have decided that sourdough is adult play dough and this cookbook has finally made it easy for me.
