Ideas for Intentionality 39/52: Shoot for the Ideal, a Fall Dessert Hit, and Mom Hope + Strategies

by Taylor Barrett

Happy Friday {first_name},

I just got back this week from the Wild + Free Homeschool Conference.

This was my 4th time going and probably the last for a little while since I am due with my 6th baby around Christmas.

The highlight for me was getting to see one of my favorites Sally Clarkson!

I know some people get a little frustrated with Sally, because she holds out ideals. But even she admits that she can be a bit Pollyanna at times.

What I love about her and her whole ministry is that she believes that we shoot for ideals and not give up on ideals.

Yes there is fallenness in this world, thorns and thistles push in hard.

Jesus said we would have trouble in this world, and yet Jesus said, “Take heart for I have overcome the world!”

So I say, with the help of Jesus, let’s shoot for our ideals and not grow cynical about what is possible in our motherhood. Yes it will be a disaster at times, but we aren’t wrong for trying our best and aiming high.

Here are some Ideas for Intentionality for you this week:

IDEAS FOR INTENTIONALITY

How I am Trying to Care for Myself at 27 Weeks Pregnant: I am trying to drink one Green Probiotic drink called Live it Up mixed with one scoop of electrolytes a day (I have one beside me right now) + take the pregnancy supplements from Just Ingredients.

Prepping for Family Pictures: Here is a blog post to help you with outfits! My top tip is to figure out what you want to wear first and then build your husband and kids outfits off that color pattern. Neuflora is my FAVORITE place to get flowy, beautiful dresses for family pictures.

  • Use code: GIRLTEACHME10 for 10% off your whole order (they just dropped their September collection this week!)

Fall Pumpkin Ice Cream Cake Idea: One of our favorite things to make that is crazy simple but feels fancy is a homemade ice cream cake in a springform pan. Here is a fall version you can do for an upcoming get together! So yummy!

Just Reordered My Non-toxic Laundry Detergent: I was out of my Truly Free Laundry Detergent, so I just ordered more! Here is the deal I used to get 150 free loads of laundry! If you prefer the unscented version, you can still get 150 loads for free, but use this link instead.

Decluttering before Christmas: Instead of feeling helpless about our homes, one thing we could do before new things come into our homes is start the decluttering process. I did a recent video on the true joy of less, but if you feel like the situation is out of control (you aren’t alone – so many of us have and do feel that way!), this decluttering course was a game changer for me.

NEW ON YOUTUBE

Homeschooling with Toddlers Around – As a mom of 6 kids (6th due at Christmas ❤️), I understand the struggle of trying to get homeschool done with a toddler or baby in tow. And I want to share the ideas that have been a help and that I have gleaned from older wiser women over the years.

Mom Mistakes Every Mom Needs to Know About – Today I am sharing so many ways I failed as a new mom, BUT I am also sharing lots of hope and encouragement on why failure isn’t always a bad thing.

Simplifying The Chaos– Can there truly be a joy in having less? Can there be a real tangible contentment that we can possess as mothers? I truly believe that there is!

    FALL BLOG POST

This Pumpkin Ice Cream Cake is such a hit with my family and at any fall gathering!

Here is my go-to whipped cream recipe. I bet you already have all the ingredients in your kitchen!

I updated my Amazon Storefront so that the things I love are organized in categories to help you find things easily!

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. Ramp up your health knowledge with this great podcast episode where they will help you understand issues with fragrance, understanding tallow (BEST part!), and many Ancestral Health facts they never ever taught me in college nutrition, but at a super basic level. (I can’t recommend every single episode – but I learned a lot in this one)

Happy Friday, I don’t know about you, but I can handle a lot of stress up until a certain point, then I just break. Something I heard someone say that has helped me a lot is that stress is not the problem, it’s the management of the stress.  The most freeing thing is realizing that…
