How Can Habits Change your Life?
Imagine what it would be like to become the healthier woman you have always wanted to be. I am sharing 10 easy habits to help you become a healthier woman today! Becoming a healthier woman won’t be easy, but these habits can be. String these habits together long enough and you will look up and see how much healthier you are than you were when you started reading this post.
What are Habits and Why do They Matter?
Habits are so IMPORTANT, because habits slowly form who we are. To give you glimpse into how important habits are and how they come about check out this deep insightful quote:
“sow a thought, reap an action; sow action, reap another action; sow some actions, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap character; sow a character, reap a destiny…”-John Mark Comer
So we see our habits are formed by our thoughts and actions, but little by little they produce who we are and who we are becoming. So let’s jump right in to 10 AMAZING easy habits to consider adding to your life that will help you become a healthier woman.
1. Get Intentional About Everyday
We have to be intentional about doing little things throughout our day that give us life so that we can be the best version of ourselves for our own household, and then we can pour into our community and world.
The first person you have to lead is yourself. I have found it helpful to create a list of intentions for the day. This could include goals for the day, chores that need to get done, a workout food to incorporate into my diet, a house focus (like one room to focus on), and a kid focus(read a chapter of the book we are going through etc.)
You can tailor all of this to fit your family and lifestyle. Purpose is KEY, so setting a clear intention is very helpful to battle depression and overwhelm.
One idea is to set a BIG 3. These are the 3 most important things you want to accomplish each day. When you are working on adding a new habit to your life, make sure your new habit is apart of your BIG 3. Yes, even if it is small and seemingly silly. Overtime, this habit will operate on autopilot and can move off of your BIG 3 and just on to your DAILIES.
For more on the BIG 3, see this video.
I have once for each day of the week and my focus for each day changes throughout the week. Not everything get done, but I have the INTENTION to do it all so my day doesn’t feel wasted or my to-do list doesn’t feel overwhelming

2. Get Outside as Early as Possible
Getting exposed to sunlight first thing in the morning regulates your circadian rhythm and it wakes us up. My favorite ways to do that are to drink my coffee on my porch, read my bible, pick some flowers, or even go for a quick walk with my dog or a kiddo. If the weather doesn’t allow for you to step outside, open up your shades and let some natural light in. Even this little bit of sunlight will help start your day off on the right foot.

3. Dailies
I have heard them called a morning routine, non-negotiables, or dailies. These are things that can be quick things that just make you feel human again. A ship that shifts even a couple of degrees has a completely different destination that if they had stayed on that course. Thats we we are doing, shifting your daily course by a couple degrees to end in it in a completely different destination by the time you go to bed.
Mine include getting dressed out of my pajamas and into some real clothes, and do some quick make up. If I am having a hard day and nothing else seems possible, I try to at least get my dailies done because dailies anchor my day.
I talk about my 8 dailies in this Youtube video: https://youtu.be/B24jnsmbEa8
4. Move Your Body, Even Just a Little…
Move it, even a little, however you can. This may look different everyday. It does not have to be a 2 hour long work out first thing in the morning. It can be that, props to you, but it can be as simple as a walk around the neighborhood or taking 10 minutes to do some yoga stretches, or even having a dance party as a family. The goal is to move your body.
Movement has been shown to improve your mood and fight depression. Did you know: a woman’s bone density is solidified by the time we are in our mid-30s, and one of the leading causes of women’s death later in life is broken hips so why not do what we can now to avoid those problems later on. I don’t move to loose weight, burn calories, or punish myself for anything I ate or did. I move because I can. Movement is a gift and it fights depression, makes us feel good and alive.

5. Take Supplements
Women who have had babies and/or breastfed are often low on so many vitamins and nutrients postnatally, even years later. I would suggest finding a functional health doctor in your area. They can run bloodwork and other tests to get to the root of any issues. If you are nutrient deficient, its almost impossible to restore your hormone health because your body is just fighting to get the nutrients it needs so it cant focus on regulating your hormones.

Below is a link that will locate a functional health doctor in your area. Mine recommended I take Beef Liver supplements and let me tell you what, I have seen a huge difference in my energy levels since taking it

6. Collagen
This one kind of goes along with supplements, but I wanted to single Collagen out because of how powerful the stuff is. It helps with hair and nail strength, joint lubrication, and gut and stomach lining health. It is tasteless and completely dissolves so I usually put it in my coffee, but you can also put it in bone broth. I would suggest finding a high quality Collagen.
These are my 2 favorite, high quality Collagens: https://amzn.to/3vOmNoN / https://amzn.to/3OWBLjY

7. Read Health Books
Your kids are watching you everyday, and we want to be pouring into them how to live a healthy lifestyle, so we need that poured into us as well. Health books are a great resource for that. I have a list of some of my favorites below, but just remember, health is a journey, not a destination.

8. Declutter Daily
This one is such a little thing that makes such a big difference. Margarete Matheny has a wonderful video on this and she explains how she sets a timer for 10 minutes and finds 20 things to throw or give away.
Have you ever thought about how we are constantly bringing things into our homes and rarely every taking things out? If we never declutter, we end up being stuff managers and I know that is not how I want to live my life. So today, take 10 minutes and look around your space. Find some things to declutter, and I can almost guarantee you will feel lighter when you are done.
My friend Margaret shares about this on her YouTube channel. She has taught me sooo much about minimalism, declutterring and just getting really clear about why and what you really need. I added her video down at the bottom for you if you need to motivation to get rid of something today.
9. Get Barefoot
Fresh air is a real thing. Grounding is a real thing. Serotonin is a very real thing. Getting outside and letting your toes feel the grass and the dirt will change your day. Pull some weeds, walk in the grass, pick some flowers, physically touch nature, I promise you will feel empowered and alive. I am 100% that weird hippie mama who is walking around the park barefoot, but ya know what, I leave feeling refreshed.

10. Journaling
I pair journaling with reading my bible. I love to read through Proverbs or John. But even if you are not a Christian, journaling is so important. It helps get the thoughts out of your mind and just write. We intake so much content through social media and the internet that we often don’t know what we think about it because we are constantly being told what others think or what we should think, so journaling is a way to decipher what you truly think.
Journaling has been known to help with anxiety and depression. I truly feel that there is so much revelation that happens when you put the pen to paper.
