23/52: Money Wisdom, Tearing Down House, and Hug til They Stop

by Lana Sullivan

Happy Friday!

This verse has challenged me to no end this year:

“The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down” Proverb 14:1

WOW, what power we have. The power to build or tear down.

I know you and I long to be the wisest of women.

So here are some ideas for intentionality to BUILD your house in a little bit of every way:

Ideas for Intentionality:

Marriage: Some of the most fun I have had in marriage is when we set goals together and then get synced up to move towards those big things TOGETHER. Here is a blog post where I talk about how we applied these principles of setting goals together and then paid off 80K in student debt.

Connection with Children: Consider hugging your child this week and THEN hugging until they break the embrace. We might be shocked how long they will hold on!

Nurturing Our Spiritual Life: Nothing will make you and I stronger for your family, more interesting and beautiful on the inside than the Word of God. It is alive and active and cuts on the way in and way out. Here is a guide you can use to get started reading the Bible today!

Finance Books I Have Enjoyed: All that we have is the Lord’s, and He has entrusted us with the care and management of it, but knowing how to do that well is hard sometimes. These books have been a help to me on the journey!

  • Old but Goodie: Financial Peace
  • Great for Women Specifically: Money is Not a Math Problem
  • To Just Buy Less: The Joy of Less
  • Being Truly Thankful for What I Have: The Power of Christan Contentment
  • Straight Wisdom: The Richest Man in Babylon

What else am I working on?

Over 100 women have now used this course to get ready for their birth. Don’t leave your birth up to chance or whoever might be on call that day. Do what you can to feel prepared!

Just added a BONUS video to this course!

 Videos of the Week:

Here are 10 Things I Wish I Knew as a New Mom…things that would have saved me tears, pain and helped my relationships a ton!

I think we can all relate to that feeling of being as spread thin as a crêpe as a mom. Here is what I do about that when I get to this place

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. Thank you again for all the questions yall sent in for the New Mom Q and A (yall had amazing questions) and it should roll out next week 🙌

Pregnant P.S. Want to slow the weight gain in pregnancy? Aim for 100g of clean protein, keep the treats to a minimum, and be an open face sandwich kind of gal. I promise it will help!

Happy Friday, I don’t know about you, but I can handle a lot of stress up until a certain point, then I just break. Something I heard someone say that has helped me a lot is that stress is not the problem, it’s the management of the stress.  The most freeing thing is realizing that…
