Ideas for Intentionality 13/52: Motherhood Naysayers, Spring Preparation, and Must-Reads

by Taylor Barrett

Happy Friday!

After birthing 5 babies, here are just a couple of things I wish I knew the first time:

  1. There are lots of ways to be a good mama and it is ok if it looks different than someone else.

2. Some friends will have easier first kids and think it was because of their wonderful parenting. (Having more than one kid is good for our humility haha)

3. Kids are never a burden, they simply reveal my selfishness and ah that is the part that feels like a burden at times… Having to see myself as I really am.

If you are just starting out on the mama journey, don’t let the naysayers discourage you! It is a hard, but amazing journey!

It surely is a pursuit that pushes you to transform into the better version of yourself, if you allow it to.

Ideas for Intentionality:

Mothering by the Book: There are so many wonderful life lessons for the journey of motherhood in this book.

Thinking of Reading Curriculum for next year? I have loved this curriculum and if you are thinking about homeschooling, investing soon gives you time to set it all up and introduce it in the summer.

Amber Reading Light: Here is a handy reading light that gives off a gentle amber glow and doesn’t mess with your circadian rhythm. My son is loving his!

Spring Dresses: Neuflora has restocked some dresses lately! My favorite ones have cotton or linen blends and the return for store credit is a seamless process. GIRLTEACHME10 gets you 10% off your order!

Watching and listening to other people’s birth stories can give us a better vision of what birth can look like for us! Watching videos of women giving birth may sound strange, but back in the day and still in many cultures, younger women were present for many births long before they gave birth themselves.  So…
