Ideas for Intentionality 7/52: Steering Wheel, Mom Mentor Book, and Beating Februaries

by Lana Sullivan

Happy Friday!

Have you heard this quote about prayer from Corrie ten Boom who survived a concentration camp after helping to give refuge to Jews in WWII?

“Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?”

The truth is that God loves to be asked about any and everything.

I know I have felt like I didn’t want to inconvenience Him in the past, but in Mark 10:51 Jesus says to blind Bartimaeus, “What do you want me to do for you?”

We know God isn’t a vending machine, He only gives what is best for us, even if it doesn’t make sense to us right now.

What would you ask if Jesus said:

“What do you want me to do for you?”

Here are some Ideas for Intentionality as you ponder that question and aim to make prayer the steering wheel in life vs. just the spare tire:

Ideas for Intentionality:

Amazing Biography: Have you ever read The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom? I named my 3rd daughter after Corrie and if you have never read this true story it will touch your life forever.

Beautiful Way to Teach Kid’s About God: This book gives some powerful analogies that can kids understand sin, forgiveness, repentance and how to rightly think about God.

Help with Chores + Raising Kids: This book is one of my all-time favorites for the WHOLE job of raising kids. It is like Jodi M downloaded all she could from her time mothering. I love the chore list she shares and I have been using her advice to help empower my kids to do more.

Better Cleaner: Many women don’t realize how inhaling strong cleaners can hurt their lungs and dirty up the air in their home (home is like a big box of air if you think about it). I really like using this one concentrate to make my laundry detergent, glass cleaner, and surface cleaner. And the kids love using the spray bottles too!

Beating the Februaries: This can be a tough time to have kids in the house bc the weather is blah, and we can feel burnt out. If you haven’t tried a Yoto for your kids, it is the screen-free thing my kids love to do when we have quiet hour. Maybe it would be a help to push through til Spring 🌸

What else am I working on?
