Happy Friday!
“I’m sorry I was wrong, will you please forgive me.” To me, these are the most powerful words that we can use in relationships. Much of my reading recently on parenting has shown the importance of repair in relationships. And that it is never too late to try and repair a relationship.
Last week I talked about how having strong relationships has been shown in the data to increase the quality of life dramatically. And isn’t that what our faith in Jesus is about, that Jesus came, lived, died, and rose again to repair our relationship with the Father?
I know this repair phrase is used daily at my house, because I am constantly seeking repair with my husband and kids, hopefully showing them I need Jesus’ help too!
So this week’s Ideas for Intentionality is about all kinds of repair-mind, body, and soul:
Ideas for Intentionality
Leaky Gut: Many health issues stem from a leaky gut that desperately needs repair. What can help? One idea is broth. Here is a video I made on making broth. I use them as bases for soups and freeze them in these. Also, I just started sipping on this super yummy instant powdered bone broth – add hot water, a pinch of salt, and BOOM, you have great broth! Matt and I are massive fans. Also, I took this course and learned a lot about healing my gut.
Fasting: This is not about keto but rather the spiritual practice of fasting. Talk about repair, fasting seems to strengthen my connection to God every time. This book is a great intro into the heart of fasting if you have ever wondered about the WHY. One way to ease into fasting is sipping on bone broth instead of eating a meal.
One Minute Pause: Taking the time to learn to pause throughout the day has been so valuable to help me slow down and repair my connection with Jesus. You can choose the 1, 3, 5, or 10-minute pause on this app. I believe in this app so much. I challenge you this week: download the app, do a 5-minute pause or longer, and email me your thoughts from the pause… I will throw everyone’s name in a hat for a little fun giveaway!
Savy Boot Shopping: OK, nothing to do with repair haha, but now is a great time to stock up on boots with Adelisa’s 20% off sale on Fall23 items. Just measure your kid’s feet with this guide and size a bit up for growth over the summer. If you invest while your kids are young and go gender neutral on the style you can just pass them down like I have. They are now a staple in all our family photos. And y’all! They have the cutest girl and mama sandals. The girls love that we can be matchy-matchy with sandals and boots.
Family Pictures: Talk about repair. When I see pictures of my family up on the walls, I am reminded that time is short and that I need to reach out and repair the ways I have been harsh or cold. Here is a guide to putting together outfits if you do a family shoot soon. These are inexpensive frames that I love. Just be sure to check the frame sizes before printing. I got an odd size and ended up needing to print larger as poster size and then trim my photos down.
Sending love,
Lana
P.S. Anybody else curious about Really Very Crunchy’s new book? She is so funny with her parody videos about being a healthy crunchy mom. This video has been making me giggle this week, since I like Ginny from 1000 hours outside too.
Pregnant P.S. Sooo much time and money is invested in the baby registry, but what about prepping and investing for birth, breastfeeding, and the whole mama journey? It all reminds me of big weddings where the focus wasn’t on getting ready for the actual marriage, but rather all the wedding details. Here is a video that can help you trim your baby registry down to the essentials and if you want to prep for birth, come join over 70+ women who have decided to invest and train their mind, body, and soul for their upcoming birth with Labor Without Fear.
