Happy Friday!
Have you ever heard that old tune from Hillsong called Desert Song? It talks about the different seasons we can walk through as Christians: the desert, the fire, the battle, and the harvest.
The song is always a great comfort, because it reminds me that I shouldn’t be shocked when hard times come and that when it all feels good, I am only filled to be emptied again.
So I have found myself in the fire this week. Injuries, sickness, an ER trip, and we haven’t had much sleep this week. Just a trial. But I know you have things going on in your life too. So what season are you in?
The desert where your soul is hungry and dry, the fire in weakness, in trial or pain, the battle when triumph is still on its way, or the harvest when favor and providence flow.
Here are some Ideas for Intentionality from my heart to yours this week:
Ideas for Intentionality:
Desert Song: This song always speaks to my heart! I love this part,
“And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here”
Triggers Book: I talked about this book last week and on the phone with my sister this week. If you feel like you need help in parenting (everyone in all creation raises their hand haha) this book will be a real help. It is a reminder that Jesus endured a lot of disrespect, disobedience etc, and never wavered in perfect love.
New YouTube This Week: This video is meant to be a lifeline for new mamas, but all mamas (especially those with new babies). These are the strategies I am applying to my life right now to stay afloat.
Broth Season: One easy way to get broth going is to buy some chicken drumsticks, cover them with water, and simmer for an hour or so until the chicken is cooked all the way through. My daughter was so excited to get some in her mug with some salt. If you just need some broth anytime, this instant broth is a staple this time of year.
Book I Am Pumped to Read: My bestie out in LA who is a health guru just sent me Good Energy and I can’t wait to dive into it! I have heard the best things about this book, so I will keep you posted on what I learn. But if you love to be at the forefront of health, this is a book to pick up.
Children’s Books that Have Been a Comfort This Week: I can’t explain why my kids love this book so much, but they all do. And when we were all struggling this week, this was the book my daughter wanted me to read to her. I packed a stack of books to read to her in ER and it was such a comfort to her. Books can be like a cozy blanket and a good friend.
Perfect Fall Lounge Sweaters: I pulled these back out again this week. I have two different neutral colors and they pull their weight as staples both at the house and out. I only wash and hang dry, but they have really held up this past year. If you are tall size up because the pants run short on me.
Sending love,
Lana
P.S. Here is a link to that song one more time for ya, it really is worth a listen 😘
Pregnant P.S. Have you ever thought about how contractions don’t end with birth? That there are moments in life we have to breathe, pray, and remain calm through? How tensing up, freaking out, and spiraling only makes things harder…I think God uses all we learn from birth as a tool for us to use in motherhood. Just a thought the next time the toddler has a tantrum, pull out your birth techniques and breathe through it. The contraction will soon pass. 😘
