Happy Friday!
I have been spending some time each morning closing my eyes and envisioning what a win looks like for that day…
A win for me in this season: when I can respond with gentleness and kindness to my 5 young children when all the chaos of life seems to be pressing in.
And this is the hardest challenge I have been facing lately.
Yes, my cortisol levels may be soaring, but seeing myself take control of my thoughts and then run them through the Phil 4:8 filter is the goal.
(Have you heard of the Divine Filter? Take a look at Phillipians 4:8 if you haven’t heard it before, it is an amazing tool!)
It is funny, because when I was coaching softball I learned about how helpful this practice (visualization) is for performing in sports.
But it is only recently that I realized that, as grown women, we are training in life too!
Training to live and walk in the ways of Jesus in ALL we do.
If you closed your eyes and saw yourself succeeding, what does winning look like for you today?
So here are some ideas that may help you on your journey of being intentional this week:
Ideas for Intentionality
Budgeting: If you are new to budgeting this app makes the process so much easier. You can literally drag and drop your transactions. We have been using it since it rolled out over 7 years ago and, wow, they just keep making it better and better! And if you hate budgeting, you need to read this book!
Crafting with Kids: Want to be crafty with your kids, but you don’t naturally love it. Or new to homeschool, and if you want some seasonal crafting ideas, this book is for you! We refer back to it all the time. My personal favorite are the ideas it gives for children’s handicraft fairs.
Feeling Sluggish??? Here are some ideas:
1. Start using electrolytes daily plus some drops of trace minerals, y’all keep emailing me and telling me how they are helping you! That makes my day! 😍
2. Add some adrenal support and get some organ meats in your life. I take at least one adrenal complex and one organ complex a day to help.
3. Make sure you get the 10PM-2AM window of sleep. That is the most restorative sleep we get.
Unlearn Helicopter Parenting: This book and this book will really help you take a deep breath and stop smothering your kids with good intentions and too much supervision. (Just over here 🙈 talking from experience bc I know the struggle is real! We just love our kids and want the best for them.)
But it stresses us out and is actually hurting our child’s development to hover.
Bible in Marriage: The best practice Matt and I have done lately is to read a snippet of scripture together in the morning (working through James right now) and share how we can apply what we read to our lives, marriage, and parenting.
It’s quick and not glamorous. But I look forward to it every day!
Quote to Consider: “the Bible is like paint, it is meant to be applied.”
(heard it at church and wow it keeps coming to my mind!)
Read Aloud that is WOW: Just finished this book with my kids this week and WOW such a powerful story! It was one of those stories that I wished I could experience all over again, but that also terrified me. The parents’ courage in the midst of a wild situation called me higher. 💕
Face Product I Am Loving: At the end of the day it has been so nice to wash my face with this cleansing oil. I LOVE the smell and takes my eye makeup off perfectly too. I just massage it into my face in the shower and try to get my face muscles to calm down. It really feels like massage oil.
Fall Family Picture Planning: Here is a guide on how to start putting together outfits for everyone and how I invested in these boots for the kids and just passed them down. LANA10 gives you 10% off your whole purchase for boots.
Sending love,
Lana
P.S. I hope you all know how very important your life is, how many people love to learn from you, and how you have so much value to share with others! You do not have to be an expert to help another woman on her journey! Start where you are, she needs you! That is the whole reason I named my website Girl, Teach Me.
We need each other and start where you are. ❤️
Pregnant P.S. Thoughts on America’s Birth Trends…Did you know that, according to the WHO only 95% of births need some kind of intervention and yet in America we are at a 30% induction rate and 1 and 3 births end in c-section. This is not to shame anyone if your birth had an intervention, only to raise the point that birth in America has an intervention issue. I will be sharing in an upcoming email how to prep for a better birth experience with a new free class. I have heard from many of you and birth hasn’t been the experience you were hoping for 😩 so I want to help with that! Praying that this class will help shift that for you in your upcoming birth. ❤️
