Happy Friday!
My sister sent me this quote and WOW! All women and girls need to hear this.
“If your girls ask why you’re putting on makeup, tell her it’s to look fancy. Not to look pretty. Sometimes she’ll want to be fancy, but she will always be beautiful.”
I LOVE this! I asked my 6 and 3-year-old girls if I put on lipstick to look pretty, and they emphatically said, “Yes!” And then I shared with them, “No, we are pretty just the way God made us, but it is fun to feel fancy.”
Now they are asking for some lip gloss to feel fancy, and it makes my heart so happy.
So let’s talk about feeling FANCY this week 😜 with a beauty roundup from the least qualified, but possibly the most practical beauty expert you know 😂
Ideas for Intentionality
Foundation that Nourishes: I ordered the sample pack to find the right color, I recommend doing this because I totally would have ordered the wrong color. I do wish the foundation cap stayed on better, but I just keep it upright. I like knowing that I am not putting bad stuff into my body just by wearing foundation.
Concealer: I have liked this concealer so much! I watched the Bobbi Brown Masterclass on makeup and got some good tips for concealer. Basically, she said, if you are using liquid foundation, you need to use liquid concealer too.
Eye makeup Remover: Simple Jojoba oil works great! Just keep a rag for taking off eye makeup and boom, save yourself so much money on eye-make-remover. The Toups and Co mascara comes off with no problem with this simple oil.
Body Lotion Obsession: This is the best natural scent (and I am someone sensitive and a little picky about scents) and with our skin being the largest organ, I feel good about lathering this all over my body. It is really that good y’all!
Hair Oil Before I Wash: Hair hack! The day before you are going to wash your hair, throw it up into a slicked-back bun with lots of this oil in your hair #1 it smells dreamy and #2 it protects your hair from being stripped of its healthy oils when you go to wash your hair.
Botox Alternative: I have so much to say on this topic because I have thought long and hard over the years about where I sit on this issue. We can talk if you have had the same soul tussle. Cultural standards shift here and there, but I just wanted to know what God wanted for me. I believe it is an open-handed issue. I think I want to stand for aging gracefully and not be scared of age, because the opportunity to age is a gift.
I have personally landed on using wrinkle tape and to opt out of botox craze. I have found that the wrinkle tape forces me to relax my forehead at night because I carry tension there. And it is effective only if I am disciplined to wear it at night. More to say on this topic, but those are my first round of thoughts.
Sending love,
Lana
P.S. Extra thoughts on beauty…Your hair, skin, and body are not too far gone to care for, but they are also not worth being worshiped. Outwardly we are wasting away, but inwardly we are being renewed day by day. The beauty Jesus puts inside us can never fade!
Pregnant P.S. Amazing birth story from LWF Student… y’all it was a breech homebirth, just WOW!… y’all it was a breech homebirth, just WOW!
