Ideas for Intentionality 38/52: Mama Anger, Triggers, and Wise Women

by Lana Sullivan

Happy Friday {first_name},

You know when someone tells you to read a book and then over weeks and months, more people tell you to read a book. I am not sure if this has ever happened to you, but it was like a big neon flashing light.

The neon flashing sign was telling me… “READ THE BOOK TRIGGERS!” 😂

Finally, finally, I ordered Triggers which is all about exchanging parents’ angry reactions for gentle Biblical response…yep! I needed the book.

I have been open about how I didn’t really know I was an angry woman until I had kids, but little by little I am learning, growing, and seeing Jesus take back some ground in this area of my life (really is such an answer to prayer!)

Maybe you are like me and your anger can come out of nowhere. I know this book can be a help!

Here are some Ideas for Intentionality for being less angry and just enjoying motherhood more:

Ideas for Intentionality:

Triggers Book: Matt and I have been reading about a new trigger or so every morning and wow it is giving us a common language and helping to unify us more on parenting. I wish I had read this book from day one of parenting.

Mama Anger Video: This is where I shared about my journey with Mama Anger, so many comments below this video, because wow. This is a common and often shameful thing we as women can struggle with.

Broken Record for Good Reason: I just really can’t tell you all how much it helps me to get minerals in my body when I feel spread thin and on edge. I like the fizzy Calm Magnesium drink, but I probably just love electrolytes and mineral drops a bit more. Either one does help a ton!

Decluttering: If you keep telling yourself that you will get around to it, but it isn’t happening, maybe you just need some skin in the game and a gentle kick in the pants. That is what this course has done and keeps doing for me. Planning to go through my closets this week and transition fall clothes for everyone. I am strangely excited to crack the course open again and fill my van with black trash bags asap.

Simple Fire: My kids have been memorizing Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem Autumn Fires. What a gift it is to sit and watch the magic of a fire. Stress melts away. I am hoping to sneak out to the fire pit this week and just talk with Matt when the kids go down and watch the fire dance. Until it gets cool enough, a simple beeswax box of candles can transform your evening meal and make a boxed pizza feel special.

New YouTube on Monday: I have somehow taken 2 months off YT, but the good news is a new video drops on Monday! Make sure to subscribe, because I have 4 new YT videos lined up for you!

Question for you?: What are your favorite kinds of videos to watch and learn from on YouTube? Hit reply and let me know 😍

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. Filmed a new mini-course this week with a friend that is all about taking back your home. I am so pumped to work on it this month and bring it to you soon! Proverbs 14:1 “A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.” Excited for us all to lean in more and build a haven and home for the people we love!

Pregnant P.S. Talked with a friend over coffee this morning who had so much anxiety about her second birth until…she felt the Lord nudging her to “worship her baby out.” So that is just what she did, after singing her heart out at a prayer and worship event, it wasn’t long after that her water broke…4 hours later she pushed her sweet baby girl out.  This is how mental and spiritual birth can be. We really can worship the creator of our babies as we welcome our babies into our arms. So amazing! Are you pregnant? Come take my new free class.
