Ideas for Intentionality 2/52: Prep for Sickness, How to Grow in Discipline, and the Importance of a Homemaker

by Taylor Barrett

Happy Friday,

Coming to you from bed with the flu. And after it ran through ALL my kids it finally got me.

Matt is the last man standing (praying super hard he has some kind super human immune system and God’s mercy)!

But seriously, I’m sharing all the things I’m using to battle this flu in case it gets to your neck of the woods – always better to be prepared!

IDEAS FOR INTENTIONALITY:

Oscillococcinum: A homeopathic flu remedy that literally was sold out of EVERY store in town but one. A friend dropped it off for me, but you have to start taking it at the beginning of the flu- so stock up!

Elderberries: I made my own elderberry syrup this time and it worked as great cough syrup for the 2 year old. Wayyy cheaper to make this stuff and here are the elderberries I use. Here is the recipe I use.

Lauricidin: I admit I don’t know much about it, BUT my friend runs a local natural supplement shop, and she said this is great for adults and kids. It’s tiny pellets you swallow. Way smaller than pills.

Colloidal Silver: This stuff is all purpose around here and this special formula has the right parts to billion. Explained in this podcast.

How to Be Your Child’s Pediatrician: Matt literally consulted this at 1am when the 3 week old spiked a fever. It helped us avoid going to the ER. So grateful for the knowledge in this book!

Tomato Powder Bone Broth: This was heaven on my throat today. It just needs some good salt added it + hot water in a mug.

Is Being a Homemaker Still Important? – What can happen if a woman turns her heart toward her home? And is education wasted on a woman who decides to be a homemaker. Let’s talk about it!

No One to Blame, We Have the Power to Change Our Homes – I am so glad that we don’t have to wait on anyone or anything to change our homes. There are so many small things that we can shift TODAY in our homes and they don’t cost a thing.

Growing in Discipline and Consistency this Year – Here are 7 powerful shifts I have made to begin growing in self-discipline as a woman and as a mother that will transform your life if you choose to do them with me.

P.S. I bought a whole season of Little Bear for my littlest to watch because I’m just in that season being postpartum + sickness. I love the gentle classical music and that it has no commercials since I bought it + it is not overstimulating for them or for me haha.

Pregnant P.S. Hoping to have my birth story with Asa up today or this weekend!
