Happy Friday!
There are moments where all I can think about is what I seem to lack. And yet, recently, God has been opening my eyes to all the resources he has provided. Resources I have taken for granted and, with some intention, can become something else all together.
Flour, water and salt mixed with intention can become sourdough bread. And then flour, water, salt and cream of tartar can also become homemade playdough.
Items no longer used can be cleaned up and sold to help save up for Christmas gifts (131 days away in case you were wondering).
And one of my favorites is just bones left over from a meal, put in the instant pot with some water and boom, bone broth. I am telling you!
Necessity can be the mother of invention.
So if you feel any kind of lack right now, could this lack possibly be used to help you grow in some way?
We started back to homeschool this week and here are some ideas for intentionality from my home to yours:
Ideas for Intentionality:
Gift to Yourself: Getting your time back from constantly picking up clutter and living in a cluttered environment would be a beautiful gift to yourself and those in your home. It is easy to blame others for the clutter, but the truth is, we can do something about it. This course helped me reshape my mindset on taking back my home.
Bones to Broth: It’s getting to be soup season, and I am telling you, bones make good broth! The key is to add some heavy cream to the soup at the end and, boom you will never know it’s not chicken broth. And you get the HUGE health benefits to gut-healing bone broth. Learn how to make it in this video and start at 5:30ish for the bone broth part.
Thrift Haul: I scored a $4 Singer sewing machine this week, gymnastic outfits for the girls, mason jars, and side tables for my girl’s room all for less than $30. Want to learn the best items to look for while thrifting? My friend Alleigh’s free thrifting guide will be a help to you!
DIY Elderberry Syrup: Doubled this recipe using these elderberries (they are dried and keep for 1 year plus sealed) to prepare for any sickness this fall/winter. And fun fact you can freeze elderberry syrup too. I froze mine in these molds that I am obsessed with. The molds help me keep my freezer stocked with soups and broth in perfect cubes.
Reusing Homeschool Supplies: I started school this week without one new item of supplies. Why? Because we just needed to get going and so much of what we have is still working just fine. I will do an update soon on some new pieces of curriculum we will be using. But we are going to keep going through Playful Pioneers because we love it so much.
Thoughts to Consider: What are the untapped resources around you? What can be decluttered and sold? What can be combined and baked? What can be reused or cleaned up? And what could be improved with 10 minutes of scrubbing with a magic eraser?
Sending love,
Lana
P.S. My kids and I are on the edge of our seat over here doing a read aloud to this book. Whew! You know it is a good book when the kids beg for one more chapter.
Pregnant P.S. I am putting together a free class for all you pregnant gals on how to improve your birth experience. Stay tuned!
