Happy Friday,
I have a semi-wild story to share with you, but mostly because I wish I knew this sooner and I want to make sure you are smarter than I was.
My husband’s grandfather, Pop, always told us to keep a carbon monoxide alarm in our house because he used to do some volunteer firefighting and had seen too much.
I totally forgot about it until a month ago and immediately plugged up the alarm. I was sad I had forgotten about it all of these years since Pop had passed away – I wanted to honor his wishes and just be wise.
Well the CO alarm went off at 4:50AM on Monday, we got all the kids up and outside in the 21 degree cold and had everyone get in the van. My son felt super nauseous!
So my husband thought it was best to call for help in case it was a real positive CO alarm.
Carbon monoxide is called the silent killer and is super dangerous for babies and kids.
I was a little embarrassed when the firetruck and ambulance rolled up in my driveway at 5AM, but I was thankful to know it was a false positive! The firefights said sadly when they get these calls it usually hasn’t ended well.
Another reason I plugged up my CO alarm is my friend told me about a time their alarm went off, but it was a REAL positive and all the kids were in the house and they never sensed a thing.
All to say! If you don’t have a CO alarm, I hope this encourages you to get one.
The lady at Ace Hardware told me that CO is a heavy gas, so the alarm needs to be installed below counter level, fun fact for ya!
IDEAS FOR INTENTIONALITY:
Of Course the CO Alarm: Best to get one with a plug AND battery back up, because when the power goes out, some people use generators and if they are too close to house CO can sometimes get in. I got one for upstairs and one for downstairs. These are almost ½ the price of the exact ones I got at ACE this week.
Restoration Home Community: This is an online homeschool community that has sooo many helpful resources, an amazing community of seasoned mamas who answer questions quickly and an amazing monthly meeting I always learn a ton from. It only opens twice a year and is open NOW!
Neuflora Drop: Did you see the new drop? Sooo many dresses on this one! Use GIRLTEACHME10 for 10% off your whole order
YouTube Course I Learned From is Closing Tomorrow Indefinitely: If you have ever wanted to learn YT, Lisa from Farmhouse on Boone helped me get started. I am sad she is closing down her course, but it will teach you the basics of editing and how to get going with YT.
She gave me a code to get you $50 off the course, but Saturday is the final day anyone can buy it. Use FINALCHANCE for $50 off the regular price.
New Aprons I am Enjoying: Pockets are a must, and I like that they are linen.
