Just Ingredients Protein Powder Review
What makes Just Ingredients Protein Powder a cut above the rest?
Less Likely to Hurt Your Belly
If a lot of protein powders hurt your belly it is probably because of the high lactose content, but Just Ingredients has no casein and uses only low lactose non-denatured whey (aka hasn’t been high heated and tampered with, it is in its pure natural form).
A lot of people who say protein powder’s typically hurt their bellys say that Just Ingredients doesn’t.
This could also be because there are small amounts of chia seed protein, pumpkin seed protein, pea protein, and collagen in the protein powder, so it isn’t all just straight whey (dairy) protein.
Only Real Food Flavor- No Fake Stuff Ever
One major difference I see is that they use no artificial or natural flavors, everything is flavored from organic real food.
This is HUGE, because the food industry does not have to disclose what is in their natural or artificial flavor-it could literally be 100’s of different chemicals to create that fake flavor.
Highest Quality Whey from New Zealand (strict regulations creates next level milk products)
All the whey that is in the Just Ingredients protein powders is whey from New Zealand. New Zealand regulations make sure that cows have access to graze on grasses 365 days a year.
This means that there is way more minerals in the dairy.
Minerals are essential to helping us feel good, but much of our food in the U.S. is stripped of minerals. Leaving many people mineral deficient. It’s good to know that Just Ingredients whey is going to have lots of natural minerals simply from what the cows were eating.
Plus all the whey from New Zealand is Non-GMO and Antibiotic free!
Many people don’t think about these things when they pick up their protein powder at the store, but the quality of the cows lives totally changes the kind of whey you get from their milk.

Different Types of Just Ingredients Protein Powders
Just Ingredients offers a couple of different kinds of protein powders, here is what you need to know:
Signature Blends Protein Powder
This is the classic protein powder that comes in the white packaging. It has around 22-24g per serving, more servings, and is basically just the same as the NSF Certified Sport Protein Powder.
It is more cost effective, but most of it is sweetened with whole stevia leaf that has been dried and ground (except French Vanilla which uses just Monk Fruit).
I don’t see a reason to buy the NSF Certified Sport powder over the Signature, unless you really want the extra protein and you want to stay away from stevia.
The price per serving comes in around $1.99 per serving, but you can use GIRLTEACHME10 for 10% off your whole order. That brings you down to $1.79 a serving!

NSF Certified for Sport Protein Powder
Just Ingredients created this line because organizations like the MLB, NCAA, Ironman and NFL to name a few recognize the NSF certified products as the gold standard for sports nutrition.
The NSF certified products go through rigorous third-party testing, but the same high-quality ingredients from the same trusted manufacturers and suppliers are used in all the Just Ingredients Protein Powders.
The price comes in at around $2.59 a serving, but like I said before if you use GIRLTEACHME10 it will give you 10% off at checkout.
Vegan Protein Powder
If you need to stay clear of any kind of dairy, the vegan protein powder is the way to go. It uses 4 types of protein: Organic Almond Protein, Organic Pea Protein, Organic Pumpkin Seed Protein, and Organic Chia Seed Protein.
I was surprised that this protein powder came in at the most expensive per serving $2.99. I think it is because it takes 2 scoops to make a serving of 20g of protein.
Just Ingredients Protein Powder Pros and Cons
Pros
So many protein powders taste chalky or taste like fake flavoring. Just Ingredients is the best quality and taste I have been able to find. It never hurts my family’s bellies.
My dear friend Carmen is as picky as they come on protein powders and swears she has tried them all. And she said the Vanilla Bean Protein Powder is the first she has tried that tastes like true vanilla. I agree!
Karalynne Call who runs and founded Just Ingredients has built a whole platform off of educating people about only trusting the ingredients, not the packaging or the green-wash hype. All of her products are as top notch and trustworthy as you can get.
Cons
I do have some cons to the Just Ingredients Protein Powder and here they are:
Not Available Everywhere
It can be a pain to buy protein powders only online. They do sell Just Ingredients at Whole Foods and on Amazon, BUT it is wayyyyy more expensive per serving. So buying through their website is the best deal. You can use GIRLTEACHME10 to get 10% off your WHOLE next order.
Doesn’t Seamlessly Dissolve (here are my work-arounds)
I think the protein powder doesn’t seamlessly dissolve in milk. I believe most protein powders are like this. The way we work around this is to add a shaker ball (getting a cheap 5 pack like this one is a good idea) and throwing that into a mason jar with a lid or a shaker bottle helps to keep the powder dissolved. That means if you take a couple minute break from sipping on the milk/water and protein powder you will want to re-shake it for best consistency.
The other way we get around this is to blend the powder with frozen fruit, milk and powder. It seems to blend better that way and stay blended longer.
Can feel a little too sweet to me
Some of the flavors can feel just a bit too sweet to me. I think that is why I prefer the French Vanilla. I like the monk fruit more than the stevia personally. But when I blend it with milk and fruit, it doesn’t seem as sweet. But just milk and protein powder feels too sweet to me at times.
Flavor Review of Just Ingredients Protein Powder:
So many flavors of protein powders! How do you know which one to choose? You can get this big sample pack to test run and try them all.
But after 6 years of being a customer consistently I am here to give you the low-down on our families tested favorites!
Which Taste the Best?
Vanilla
I think hands down the ultimate winner for me is the French Vanilla. Vanilla Bean is also wonderful, but I like that the French Vanilla is made with monk fruit and that is seems a little less sweet.
I think this is the most versatile flavor you can get. We put it in smoothies, yogurt, baked goods, and just plain ole milk.
Peanut Butter Chocolate
This is my kids and husband’s favorite flavor. It is just as good as the chocolate, but it just has a bit more richness to it.
Our favorite way to use the peanut butter chocolate flavor is something we call Banana Swirl. You can find that recipe + 9 other protein powder recipes we use here.

Chocolate
I like the chocolate. I think it is the perfect amount of cocoa flavor. It’s just that if I had to choose I would do the Peanut Butter Chocolate instead.
Snickerdoodle
Ok this one is yummy and is great to add to baked goods. It sounds weird to add protein powder to baked goods, but it is an amazing way to create your own protein pancakes or simply make protein cookies.
Also, these would be soooo good in protein bites!

Strawberries and Cream
Ok I think MY second favorite is the Strawberries and Cream protein powder. I JUST tried it last month and we already had to order another bag.
We simply blend milk, frozen strawberries and two scoops of the strawberries and cream powder and WOWOWOW! It is YUM!
If you are into strawberries I think you will love this one, but also if you want the most versitile flavor consider getting the French Vanilla and then make your smoothie with frozen strawberries-it’s not just the same but pretty close!
Mint Chocolate
My son LOVES all things mint chocolate. So I use this powder to blend with vanilla ice cream and make him mint chocolate chip ice cream (without all the fake stuff and coloring).
He loves it and we just made a birthday cake for my daughter this way.
Lemon Swish
I was hesitant about this flavor (the name is even a little weird haha), but my MIL had me try it in yogurt with berries and WOW it is a nice tart lemon flavor.
If you are drawn to tart lemon flavored yogurts at the store, then this would be a great way to ditch all the fake flavors/sugars and add even more protein to your yogurt.

Chai
I know this flavor isn’t for everyone, but I enjoyed it with just milk and ice. It made for a nice iced chai! But I believe it would also be good in some baked items.
Neapolitan
Ok, I just couldn’t get into this Neapolitan flavor. I think the other flavors are wayyy better! We finished the bag, but like I said I won’t be ordering it again.
