Ideas for Intentionality 7/52 Cover Your Tissues, Ugly Tools, and Cozy Homes

by Lana Sullivan

February 16, 2024

Happy Friday!

When it comes to home decorating I am not a natural, but I understand that growth takes effort. Little by little, I have made strides to make my home more beautiful to myself and those I love.

One fun tip I have learned along the way is to simply make functional home items beautiful.

This week’s ideas for intentionality are about taking the useful tools in our home but thinking about how to make them beautiful.

Ideas for Intentionality

Swaps:

–Baskets with handles instead of plastic laundry baskets. They are multi-functional and can be used to store blankets and toys as well. It makes the never-ending chore of laundry just a little more pretty. This one is on sale this week.

–Tissue box covers over cardboard tissue boxes. I am a tissue gal and I love to have tissue boxes in every room, but goodness, the store-bought boxes are ugly. I have enjoyed these covers. (make sure to click the coupon)

–Wooden dishwashing tools for stinky sponges. I have a small wooden handheld one that gets the job done. I like that this pack has one softer one and one for pots and pans. I just spray them off with my disinfecting Force of Nature spray when I am done for the night.

–Neutral wooden blocks for plastic toy blocks. I know, I know. There is a lot of wood in this post, but I am telling you that there is something calming about wooden items for the kids and I. My kids love these blocks (on sale now) so much that I bought a second set. The blocks come with a nice wooden box to store them in too. So they are actually pretty sitting out in the living room.

–Amber spray bottles for store-bought plastic spray bottles. I have broken a couple of these, but ya know I just keep buying them. The reason is, if it is out on the counter it is still PRETTY. And again, my kids make our Force of Nature and pour it into these bottles. They actually like this chore…😂

–Book: The Cozy Minimalist taught me a lot about being a more confident home decorator. I have a long way to go, but I appreciate her step-by-step approach to redoing any room.

Quote: “To be human is to long for home.” -Jen Pollock Michel. I think our soul is craving our forever home with Christ. In the meantime, it is special to create a safe place our people can connect, gather, and grow in

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. A new YouTube video is coming on Monday at 1 pm EST called “24 Hours with a Newborn” 🙌 AND I just checked every single thing I shared this week either is on sale or has a coupon! 👏👏👏

Pregnant P.S. One of my first Labor Without Fear students, Mikayli, recently had her 2nd natural birth using the course material. She said, “I felt SO CONFIDENT throughout my entire labor and birth! Thank you for creating a course and space for women to feel the empowerment of their birthing babies.” So happy for you Mikayli! ❤️ If you are pregnant come join over 65 women who have recently invested in their birth prep!

Happy Friday, The thing I can’t get out of my head this week is this: Our limits CAN bring soooo much glory to God.  God is INFINITE and that is a good thing. We are LIMITED and that is also a good thing. I guess I was accidentally believing the lie that I had to…
