Ideas for Intentionality 22/52: 😎 Summer Activities for Kids Cheat Sheet, Our Go To Summer Snack, and Habits that Keep Everything Rolling

by Taylor Barrett

Happy Friday,

I have noticed mixed thoughts on summer in the mama world! And maybe you can relate…

A break from the normal, a time to recharge, sunshine and water time – this is how we sometimes think of summer.

But for others it can be stressful because kids are out of school and they have a lot of time, so there can be the idea that we need to keep kids busy so they aren’t asking for screens all summer. (I have HELP for this below)

So the temptation can be to sign kids up for every camp there is because, “What if our kids are bored?” OR we even plan too much and put too much pressure on ourselves to have the MOST magical summer ever.

For me, the goal is to have an intentional summer to recharge and reset my homeschool, realign on my mission of motherhood (because mission drift is sooo real in the hustle and bustle of life), and get lots of sunshine and adventure time with friends.

IDEAS FOR INTENTIONALITY:

Amazing Watercolor Summer Checklist for Kids: My artist friend Brittany from @cheersandprayers made this watercolor checklist for her kids to follow in the summer. She laminated it and put it on her fridge. Each kid had their own and had to cross off all the items before they could have some screen-time. But I have also used it as a checklist for my littles for homeschool!

Inspiration and Help for More Outside Time: I made this YouTube video a couple years ago to share new and different ways to get kids outside more, inspired by the 1000 hours outside movement.

Good Clean Movie LIST for Kids this Summer: This is a list of movies that our family loves. Of course you have to judge for yourself since you know your family best. But these are movies I feel good putting on for my crew who are 11 and under.

Intentional Toys for the Kids (Outside and Yoto Included): Here is my TOP list of toys that my kids use over and over. Some of them could be fun for the summer including the ninja course that you can also hook any swing to!

Make Some Summer Playdough: My kids have found a million ways to use playdough and making it is super simple! Here is the way we do it.

Summer Amazon Link: I compiled some of my favorite previous purchases of things that I use a ton in the summer!

    NOTABLE SALES 🥳

Just Ingredients HUGE Electrolyte Sale + Seasonal Protein Powder SALE is here! And they just rolled out some new flavors. We tried Sweet Strawberry and the Peach. Both sooo yummy, Peach is probably my favorite of the two.

I am curious about the Watermelon Lime and the Rocket Berry!

Buy 3 Electrolytes, get 1 free and GIRLTEACHME10 gives you an extra 5% off that deal!

And 20% off of Seasonal Protein Powder-the Peaches and Cream Protein Powder is sooo yummy!

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. Need a good summer beach read? This one is perfect!

Pregnancy P.S. Sometimes leg swelling can happen as the heat cranks up! I took this to help prevent varicose veins, pumped electrolytes, and was super sure to take my mineral drops! Taking a walk and getting your heart rate up 2 or 3 times a day and then putting your feet up can help as well. Movement and fluid helps a TON!
