Happy Friday!
After 3 weeks of being off my iPhone and using a “dumbphone” aka my little Light Phone, I have some takeaways for you!
My mom joked that my little Light phone looked like it came from Temu and that maybe I got ripped off bahaha, fair point mom! It is a tiny little phone and very underwhelming to look at. And yet, it really has been a blessing to be more disconnected and straight up not have the option to get on social media.
There have been moments when I have just stared at my phone thinking, “Come on do something for me other than the option to call!” or “Entertain me phone!” haha đ
So I get up and do something with my life, because my phone has little to offer. Or I call someone, which has been a delight!
I have had people say, “What the heck is that thing?” or “Wow, I could never do that!” The reaction has run the gambit, but no judgment, I just needed a change for me and my brain.
The smartphone was like having a Swiss army knife with lots of built-in tools and then just realizing you like one tool at a time. And I miss some of the tools, so it will be interesting to figure out how to get some tools back by themselves.
I will keep you posted as I run this guinea pig experiment on myself đ
This weekâs I of I is just a round-up of all the ideas, items, and things that have helped me through a bit of a “blah” week in case you need some pep in your step too:
Ideas for Intentionality:
Book that Has Become my BFF: I guess I wonât stop talking about this book until 1/2 of y’all have ordered it. If you have ordered it, and you donât love it, give it another chance or flip to the middle and start reading.
-   God used Ch. 5, The Mysterious Mindset of Contentment to get me through a low moment this week. I’m just saying, this book is that good. It’s the hug or the kick in the pants I typically need.Â
Best Bread Lately: I made the white sandwich loaf from this book this week and WHEW! It was sooo yummy! It would be perfect to double the recipe and use it for all the sandwiches for the week. I asked a dear friend which of the 4 sourdough books she owned she liked best….she affirmed this one is practical and her favorite.
Perfect Protein Bites: Ok, this recipe was on repeat in our house this week, and it is the perfect snack to drop off for a new mama or someone who is going through a tough time. I used Just Ingredients Vanilla Powder in the bites and my pancakes this morning. I think the Vanilla is the most versatile flavor of all the protein powders.
Need a Plan for Your Bible this Fall: Have you ever written out a whole book of the Bible? I promise it can be life-changing, especially if you grab 2â3 women and do it together. Here is a post where I talk about the Bible Study tool hardly anyone has heard of that could be a help to you this Fall.
Thought for Your Week: âWhat is unique about this set of circumstances that enables me to put the glory of Christ and the sweetness of the gospel on display here?â -Andrew Davis from The Power of Christian Contentment
Feeling Overwhelmed by Clutter: I am about to bust this course back out again in the next couple of weeks because the clutter has crept back in. If you feel like a victim to the clutter, it is so freeing to realize…wait, I am the person that can do something about it!

P.S. Thank you to those of you who sent me your favorite movies from growing up. I am adding them to the watch list for the old-school kid movies blog I am working on. One of you suggested Chitty Chatty Bang Bang! If you didnât get to send me your recommendations, shoot them over by replying to this email.
Pregnant P.S. It is possible to have a better birth experience than you had the first time or from what you have seen on TV shows. Birth really can be powerful, transformational, and even peaceful. One student from the Labor Without Fear Course was literally helping her husband not panic while she was pushing. AMAZING! I think key components are using the mind as a tool and relying on the One who designed birth. God is ready to help with birth if only we just ask.Â
