Ideas for Intentionality 46/52: Over “Somedays,” Mercari Ideas, Boy/Girl Gift Ideas

by Lana Sullivan

Happy Friday!

Tired of always saying….“someday”?

This was us dreaming about having chickens. Matt talked 12 years of marriage about getting chickens. There were seasons when it was not going to happen, like when we lived in LA.

But here we are in NC (with a yard) and we kept finding excuses.

On our couple’s yearly getaway this past December, we finally decided we were done researching something to death and getting paralysis by analysis.

This was so much bigger than just chickens, we realized that we sometimes had a mindset of waiting for “someday” in life, so in May we bought 10 chickens with no chicken house purchased or planned.

After all of these months, the payoff came…we finally got our first eggs from the chickens we bought as chicks!

And yet, the eggs don’t feel like the actual payoff…the fun energy that came into our lives from simply taking action on a dream has been a true gift that seems to keep giving.

What is it for you? What goal or dream needs some of your messy action?

Just start…add a little paint to the wall, take old light fixtures down, hit record, or buy the baby chicks.

Starting (even if it is messy) is such a big energy giver.

Here are some ideas for starting + Gift/Christmas prep ideas:

Ideas for Intentionality:

Curious About Starting a Blog or YouTube Channel:  I can promise you that this course will take you step by step. It helped me get started 4 years ago, and I was re-watching some course videos just last week. It is an amazing investment if you want to get started, but need step-by-step help.

Finally, Start Making Sourdough: You might think sourdough is for “those women…” Not true at all! You can do it too! I promise bad homemade bread doesn’t even compare to store-bought bread. You CAN do it! No superpowers are needed. I am pumped to get my hands on this brand-new book “how-to book” by the Sourdough Queen herself.

Christmas Prep: I ordered this wrapping paper, and I am setting up a wrapping station in the basement. I am adding finishing touches to a eucalyptus garland for the mantle and dried some oranges this week. Hoping to have my new Natural Christmas Decor YouTube video up today for you!

Outdoor Gift Ideas for Girls: I am getting my girls these skates and pads. One of my gals has this helmet, but I am getting 3 more for my other kiddos because the helmet fits so snugly and is a radically different quality than all the other helmets I have bought. And then a little balance bike for my little girl’s upcoming birthday.

Outdoor Gift Ideas for Boys: The boys have enjoyed their rollerblades (they bought theirs used from eBay and Play it Again) and pads. As I said, I am getting them these helmets that fit like a ball cap. But also, they have loved having hockey sticks to use with their rollerblades, and I am thinking about getting them an actual hockey net.

Christmas Song: Matt and I’s first date was to a Dave Barnes Christmas Concert, this is a sweet song you might like from that concert. Apple link and Spotify Link

Seasonal Cookbook: Part of my big plan to be done with Christmas prep by Dec 1st had me planning my Thanksgiving and Christmas menu. I used this cookbook to gather my healthy recipes for the holidays. You can get a digital copy or a physical copy. GIRLTEACHME10 gets you 10% off

Mercari Idea: What about getting a toy off Mercari and wrapping it up pretty for your kids? My son loves to order dinosaurs off Mercari and is always delighted to see how much he can save vs Target prices. Teaching kids that the box or wrapping isn’t that important, but that we can get great items used is a great way to stretch a Christmas dollar. Here is $10 to spend on your first Mercari purchase.

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. Margaret Matheny and I are launching a mini course together next week for you called, Taking Back Your Home. If you feel stuck with the way your home feels, this course will be a help to you! I will send more info soon!

Pregnant P.S. Here is a video that can be a help in your first trimester. 🩷 Sometimes pregnancy appointments are short and there isn’t much time for the doctor to educate you on how to have the healthiest pregnancy, but a healthy pregnancy is the first step to staying low risk for a natural birth. Let me show I have prepped for 5 natural births.
