Ideas for Intentionality 13/52: Losing Your Pink, Sunshine & Beef Liver

by Lana Sullivan

Happy Friday!

Have you heard that saying about the flamingo and how they lose their pink for a while after having their baby?

My baby is 4 months old and whew! I feel that I am smack dab in the middle of losing my pink. After 5 babies I know this too shall pass, but it leaves me going brain-dead in the middle of my conversation with the Trader Joe’s cashiers this week.

Baby Corrie is a million times worth the extra baby weight, brain fog, and just blah at times…

Maybe you can relate to not feeling your best or wondering if you will ever get your pink back, as the old saying goes.

Here are some Ideas for Intentionality to get some pink back into our lives while we embrace the season we are in:

Ideas for Intentionality

Hard Day Video: Busting out of a hard day is a challenge. Walk with me through this hard day and use some of these ideas to help you restart on a day that seems to be spiraling from the start.

Toups and Co: I just ordered some light foundation samples, because I was too pale for the medium ones. I have heard endless good things about their makeup, so I am excited to try it. I know I love their face and baby tallow so I am excited to try out their other products. Use Code: LANA10 for 10% off

Post-natal depletion: Have you heard of this phenomenon? It has been so interesting to read this book and learn about how different cultures heal after having a baby, what our culture could do better for new mamas, and apply some of these principles to my own life. One way has been taking these liver capsules. I think they make a difference in my energy level if I am consistent with them, but that is a whole other struggle.

Sunshine: I am telling you a good walk and some sunshine with no sunglasses is medicine for the soul and balm to my motherhood. I even felt like I would explode the other night because I had unrealistic expectations of the kids and I just needed to calm down. So I just stepped outside for 15 minutes and watched the sun go down. My whole mood shifted, I forgot why I was frustrated in the first place and ended up on the ninja course with my 9-year-old 😂.

On Repeat Over Here: I cannot say this enough. Electrolytes + mineral drops blended = a slightly more sane mama. This combo makes me feel so much better! My kids are always asking me to make this for them too. I have both the strawberry limeade and orange pineapple version, but I think I have liked the limeade one more lately. And I had to order a new bottle of minerals this week. Minerals taste terrible alone, so cover those miraculous minerals with yummy electrolytes. Use Code: GIRLTEACHME10 for 10% off the electrolytes and the liver capsules above.

Closet Reset: One key for me is not keeping any clothes in my closet that do not fit. They mock me and clutter my thinking when I get ready. Use this simple process to curate a closet that doesn’t zap all your decision-making for the day, just to get ready. Here is the blog version and video version of this simple 7-step process.

Actual Pink: If you are feeling spunky check out this fun pink outfit I ordered recently. I am not sure if it is made for tall girls, but if you are a little shorter it could be for you! (I am 5’9 if I stand up tall, and I ordered a L). My son said it gets a thumbs up because it looks handy with lots of pockets hahaha!

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. I am at my dear friend’s @the.brother.mother house now (mom of 3 little boys) and she recommended this for adding some pink back to your life.

Pregnant P.S. Here is one of the scripture-inspired affirmations from my natural birth course for you!
