Ideas for Intentionality 15/52: Bread Playdough, Iced Chai, and FUN
Happy Friday
Over the weekend, Matt and I took my boys to run their first road race over the Charleston Bridge (they are 9 and 7).
At the beginning of the year, we discussed how we want to purposely add some events into their lives to challenge them and give them the confidence to do HARD THINGS.
Matt, my brother, and sister ran the race with them and, honestly, they didn’t seem phased by the 6.2 mile run. One reason is that they had great company on the run, encouragement from a lot of strangers, and the race was FUN.
Live bands playing every mile, 40,000 runners’ energy driving you forward, and the promise of yummy snacks at the end of the race.
I am learning that when it comes to doing HARD things, bringing an element of FUN can go a long way.
This week’s I of I is all about adding a sparkle of fun to the daily things we do.
Ideas for Intentionality
Quote: “What would it look like if it were fun?”- Ali Abdaal from this book which is fabulous so far!
Ideas for Getting Outside: Getting outside with the kids is honestly balm to my soul. Here is a video about how to make that happen more for you and your kids.
Adult Playdough: I have decided that making bread is my adult playdough. We have to eat, but trying new recipes and new tools just adds a sparkle of fun to the kitchen.
Workday Treat: Sometimes we plan days to accomplish a big project around the house. When we do this, we plan a treat like ice cream or hot chocolate for after we finish. This is our favorite healthy hot chocolate and some homemade whipped cream on top is a go-to for a sip of fun.
Family Fun: The kid’s version of Catan and Ticket to Ride scratches the itch for Matt and I’s favorite adult board games.
Matt’s Fav Lately: My husband will always choose Chai anything over coffee and this week Just Ingredients released her Chai Protein Powder. I tried it hot (it was yummy, just doesn’t break down perfectly like hot chocolate), but YALL it was sooo yummy blended with ice and milk. Hands down our new favorite protein powder. I am trying to get 100g of protein in most days and with 22g a serving this helps me meet that goal. GIRLTEACHME10 gets you 10% off
No TV, but this Instead: We opted out of a TV in the main living area and put a projector downstairs. It’s less of a nudge to watch TV, but if we watch it’s legit clear and FUN for hosting.
Sending love,
Lana
