Ideas for Intentionality 16/52: Silkies, Campfires, and Watercolor Dough

by Lana Sullivan

Happy Friday!

“What would it look like if it were fun?” this quote from Feel Good Productivity has been speaking to me lately! And considering that the work of childhood is PLAY, keeping it FUN is important.

Even if we knock out a 10-minute house clean-up, we can do it to a dance song. We can work hard on our tasks to sit down for a board game and a hot chocolate afterward.

There is so much that needs to be done, but does it have to be stiff and boring? What would it look like if we made it fun?

This week I of I is all about PLAY and some FUN things my kids have been enjoying lately that might be a blessing to your family:

Ideas for Intentionality

Keeping Littles Busy: I have to keep the girls (5 and 3) busy when I am working with the boys on their math or during a read-aloud. The girls enjoy these open-ended blocks, magnatiles (usually some fights over these they like them so much😝), pattern blocks, and silkies.

Homemade Playdough Recipe: We use these watercolors to make fun wild colors of homemade playdough for the kids. And here is a video where I show you how to make homemade playdough and even add essential oils for yummy-smelling play dough.

Yoto: My girls love their Yoto and the boys are eyeing the Yoto for their summer birthdays since the girls use it all the time. You can even make your own cards. If yall have some favorite card recommendations, please hit reply and let me know. The kids love the campfire card and use it inside their tents as a pretend fire haha.

Nail Salon: The girls are always wanting to play nail salon and this paint helps me not freak out as easily if it gets a bit messy.

Ninja or a Monkey: This has been endless fun for the kids outside.

Family Board Games: I talked about this one and this one last week. But they are also loving this fun cooperative game.

Healthy Treat: We love this healthy hot chocolate, with so many nourishing ingredients, I am happy to give the kids as much as they want, but I recommend adding a little homemade whipped cream on top. I just take cold heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and a little powdered sugar and mix it, so yummy!

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. Only took me a whole month to edit this video. Consider passing it on to a friend who needs courage for her upcoming birth.

Pregnant P.S. This video is a love note to YOU ladies and my 3 daughters when they have babies one day. Pray it is a blessing to you for the journey!
