Ideas for Intentionality 35/52: I’m Pregnant!, Labor Day Sales, and Breaking the Cycle of Self-Sabotage

by Taylor Barrett

Happy Friday!

I wanted to share some exciting news for our family… I am 23 weeks pregnant!

This is our 6th baby and to be honest it took me some time to wrap my brain around that number haha.

I didn’t come from a huge family and I never really imagined having this many kids, but I am so thankful! Having kids and getting a chance to coach them through their ups and downs has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

So thank you for celebrating with us… I will probably have a Christmas baby!

So here are my Ideas for Intentionality in this season of getting homeschool off the ground, being pregnant, and getting excited for the change of weather – fall is coming!

IDEAS FOR INTENTIONALITY

Watercolor Box: It has been a couple of years since I bought this box of little tubes of watercolors and ah I have missed it. We painted together at the kitchen counter this week, listening to YoYo Ma, and it was just magic! I’m going to use them today to make some homemade playdough and give the playdough some wild colors too! Here is a video teaching you how to do it too!

Precious People: Kicking off with this ancient history curriculum next week since I finally got all my materials and books in! If you have littles you want to be intentional with, I recommend her preschool curriculum! It is what got me started when my little guy was 4… now he is 11!

* PEACEFULYEARgets you 10% off

#1 Kid’s Book: Y’all I just have to tell you that I wish I could place this book on every family’s bookshelf. I teared up and was so touched reading it to my kids (“Mom! Why are you crying again in another book? Just skip the page mom!” – says my big boys haha) But my husband even read it to his 11 year old baseball team last week. It is a GEM! Thank you dear Brittany for sending it to our family, it has been a blessing!

Candle Season Coming: It is always candle season here, but if you want your family meals to regulate a little with toddler meltdowns and just mellow it out a bit. Try these taper beeswax candles with a little holder like this. Truly! My friend Margaret Matheny taught me this and it is one of my favorite mama party tricks.

Best Lounge Outfit: I have broken out these outfits again. I am 5’10 so the pants are a little too short on me to really rock these outfits haha, but I use the sweater tops all the time in or out of the house. I have this color and this color and they are staples in my closet. Thinking about adding this color to my wardrobe.

LABOR DAY SALES

Toups and Co has a big Labor Day Sale going on with 15-20% off everything. I am getting some more foundation AND a new bronzer since the girlies broke my last one haha.

Protip: If you use the link + code LABORDAYGLOW + subscribe it is a total of 25% off)

Branch Basics is doing 20% off new subscriptions. I really do think the concentrate is worth it for $55 it gives you: 3 All Purpose Bottles, 3 Bathroom Bottles, 3 Streak Free Bottles, 3 Foaming Wash Bottles and 64 Loads of Laundry.

* Get 10% off with their subscription sale and an extra 10% off with LANA15

Truly Free is doing a Labor Day Sale where you get 200 dishwasher loads and 200 laundry loads for $89 and if you spend $115 +, you get free shipping!

Which is better? I like both Branch Basics AND Truly Free. My take is I like how one bottle of concentrate can make all the things for Branch Basics, but my husband likes the super faint essential oil smell on the clothes with Truly Free. If you are used to any kind of scent on laundry and want a safer option, I would recommend Truly Free! If you want to order one thing and make it as versatile as possible I would recommend Branch Basics. I will be ordering a little of both for my family.

P.S. I asked Siri to play swing dance music this week while we were playing board games during a homeschool break and my son said, “Hey this is fun relaxing music!” I love trying to create an environment they can feel, that was just a small win amongst many fails this week haha!

Pregnant P.S. Got this to wear under dresses and to layer with a cardigan around the house, felt like putting on butter with this growing bump.

Choosing the right outfits for family pictures can be tricky. You want to coordinate, but not be too matchy-matchy. The key is to…

Happy Friday, If my house starts to feel a little cluttered, my husband will joke with me and ask if I have read The Joy of Less lately. He knows that little book kicks me into high gear and realigns me with deep values that I cherish: stuff is not what makes us truly happy or content. …
