Ideas for Intentionality 29/52: Books that Keep Calling, Legit Joy, and 4,000

by Lana Sullivan

Happy Friday!

From the moment you get this email at 5:30 AM on Friday, you will have roughly 4,000 hours left in 2024. And the crazy news this week has reminded us that only God knows how many hours we really have.

With that thought in mind, I hope you and I will ramp up our intentionality in our faith, marriage, money, friendships, parenting, and health.

Of course, we can’t do it all, all at once.

Good news! One idea may be of help to you!

If you are a follower of Christ, you have been given access to the Spirit’s help. Yes, he wants us to live a certain way and commands it, but the good news is He also provides the HELP we need.

“He gives the help, He gets the glory.” -John Piper

Have you been trying to live this life without His help?

If so, everything is going to feel much harder.

If this concept feels foreign, and you need help understanding how to walk with Jesus, just hit reply. Lana here 🙋‍♀️ and I would love to chat.

This week I have actually been soooo sick. I normally don’t get this sick, so it’s been a doozy. So here is what has been helpful in a week that has tested my resilience:

Ideas for Intentionality

Tea: I have been inhaling this tea. I drink it all the time, not just when I am sick. It is just a great tea to have on hand.

Natural Remedies Education: Through the years I have learned some amazing recipes to boost the immune system to fight sickness, and I was so happy to see that Jodi Mockabee does so much of that and more with her family. If you want some education on how to be prepared for sickness in your family, I can’t recommend this book enough.

Electrolytes: Often when we feel low energy, it is because we are just dehydrated. Being dehydrated is like having a swamp in our bodies vs. a clean-flowing waterfall. Electrolytes simply make the water we drink more effective at a cellular level. I had to make homemade electrolytes this week because I was waiting for my package to arrive, and it was fine, but certainly not as yummy as these.

Man in Search of Meaning: You know when you keep hearing of a book? Over the years, this was a book that I kept hearing about. The first part was hard to read because it is his story of being in a concentration camp in WWII. I am not done with the book, but it is impacting me and making me think. I see why it is a classic!

Podcast: Feeling like you need more joy? This podcast tackles the question: Is our JOY commanded or spontaneous? The answer is BOTH. This is where I got the idea that He gives the help and He gets the glory. Here is the apple podcast link and here is the spotify one.

Journal and Pens: Not into journaling? Try this judgment-free, free-flowing journaling style instead. Write however you want, in any direction you want, say it all without decoration (ya know how southerners tend to talk 😂), and be honest with yourself even if it is hard to say. Freely talk to Jesus. He can handle it, I promise. This is the journal I am using now, and I do a happy dance when my pen doesn’t get stolen for my journaling time.

Sending love,

Lana

P.S. My husband and I are working a free class for you all this fall to help you get extra intentional. Thank you to all of you ladies who gave me your feedback. If you haven’t yet, tell us which topics would be most helpful to you here!

Pregnant P.S. Positive birth stories are one of the best ways to shape what you believe about birth. This is one of my favorites.
