Happy Friday!
This month has been an interesting journey. It all started on my way to see my parents in Charleston. I look down after a gas station stop and my Light Phone is bobbing up and down in my cup holder.
One of my littles climbed onto the front seat, knocked my water bottle over, it flooded my cup holder and the rest is history.
So it’s been a month with no phone at all (actually really nice in a lot of ways and hard in others), because after having a Light Phone for over 6 months now I like the friction of not having a smartphone because it helps me be so much more present.
But I couldn’t figure out what to do… get another Light Phone? I didn’t love everything about having it.
My dear friend had a Wisephone she didn’t want anymore and shipped it my way!
I will keep you posted on how the Wisephone is, but I like that it has a timer and a couple of other tools that I missed from having a smartphone.
Just keeping y’all posted on the journey in case you have ever thought of reducing your screen time as a mama in a more radical way.
Ideas for Intentionality:
Spring Dresses: I got a couple of items this week when Neuflora had their May drop (they offer a new collection each month). Some of the items I got are still in stock: the Hampton Dress in Blue, Mallory Tank in Brown, Big Sur Floral Dress, and the Sonoma Skirt. I normally don’t get this big of a haul, but a super sweet friend sent me a gift card, seriously so kind!

My daughter had her 7th birthday and here are a couple of the items I got her in case you have a little girl to buy for soon:
Watercolor Book and Set: I got this Watercolor with Me in the Forest Book for my niece and she loved it so much that I got it for my little girl too. Now all the bigs are asking for their own book and set. I love the watercolor book because it shows the child exactly what colors to use, the picture is drawn on the left side in what looks like light pencil and then there are step-by-step directions on how to recreate the picture. And then this watercolor set is simple and lovely with good brushes.
Glitter Headband: I wish I had this headband when I was 7 haha. The baby keeps trying to put it on her head.
Floating Shelves: One request she had was to have shelves by her top bunk so she could put her trinkets and waterbottle on. So I got this set of 3 shelves that was affordable and the wood looks pretty decent for the price.
Bluey Matching Game: Just a fun game that the 10, 8, 6 and 4 year old can play with me. And we just love Bluey!
Crafting Kits: One thing I am going to try to work on this summer is helping my kids have skills that they can do independently all the while working with their hands. I got her this Needlepoint Kitand we are going to work on it while the two youngest are napping each day.
What else am I working on?
Are you craving a more peaceful home environment? Margaret and I are sharing how we have made shifts from having chaotic homes with stressed moms, to homes where kids feel welcome and the environment feels more regulated and calm. That is saying a lot since there are 9 kids between Margaret and I’s homes.
So if you need more peace in your home, come check out this mini-course to give you a jump start.

Video of the Week:
Maybe you have had a pain-free birth… I have a dear friend who has, so I am not knocking the possibility, just offering my honest thoughts on the whole “Pain-Free Birth Movement” and the repercussions it might be having on women’s expectations of birth. I promise I am bringing some ideas you might not have considered before.

Sending love,
Lana
P.S.
I got some email responses lately, which I just love, with some specific motherhood questions. I am not a motherhood expert by any means, but I have learned a fair amount to help the new mama. If you have any questions or problems, I can answer/help you troubleshoot in a YouTube Q&A soon. Would you comment your questions below?
Pregnant P.S.
My dear friend told me that she uses this Homoepathic medicine in her first trimester when she feels sick. She just takes one every 10 minutes until she feels better. If you find yourself in the first trimester, it might be worth a shot?!
